Nothing sets off your gastrocolic reflex more powerfully than fats. That means nothing will set off your IBS symptoms faster.
So never eat high fat foods, even in small portions, on an empty stomach or without a foundation of your soluble fiber safe foods.
Soluble fiber will help keep your gut calm and motility stable.
