Hello -

To manage IBS, you want a diet that is low fat but not fat free.

And try to never ever eat high fat foods, even in small portions, on an empty stomach or without your soluble fiber safe foods.

Minimize total fat intake to 25% of your diet, at most. Make your fat choices heart healthy options.

Always read prepared food labels to check that fat content and at restaurants, ask if things are fried, cooked in oil, or have an oil/butter/cream sauce.

Why is this critical?

Because all fats - even healthy ones - are powerful GI stimulants that will cause your gastrocolic reflex to over-react and set off IBS symptoms.

Fats are a top IBS trigger food.
