Hello -
I'm happy to once again say that all Fennel Tummy Tea is back in stock and shipping out.
Teabags, cans, pouches, and loose teas will all be available.
After that it's ugly. Our next confirmed fennel shipment is not due until 2025.
There continues to be a world of hurt in the fennel seed import market. The fennel shortages we've been struggling with since May will continue.
We have 3,000 lbs of fennel arriving this week. That is all we are getting from a 7,000 lb order.
After that we do not have anything due in before early 2025. And that is only another 3,000 lbs.
There has been very bad news from all of our fennel vendors since spring.
We source our high volatile oil organic fennel seed from three global suppliers. All of it is imported from the Mediterranean. (Organic fennel seeds are not grown commercially on a large scale in America.)
All ocean containers inbound to America are being delayed due to the Israel-Hamas war. Ships now have to avoid the Red Sea because because they are being attacked.
Adding on to the trouble, there are also treacherously low water levels in the Panama Canal. Right now only smaller ships can pass through.
This has all resulted in fewer spots on container ships overall worldwide and delays getting anything out of ports.
As a result, our fennel seed orders continue to be delayed or cancelled. One container shipment due in September has arrived. Others have not even left their home ports and we still do not have updates.
Every time I follow up with our suppliers they tell me new inbound containers have been delayed again.
We are still trying desperately to secure more organic sources, increase our new contract quantities, and keep your Tummy Tea coming.
As the shortages and backorders continue I will keep you posted. Hopefully better news is coming.
