Hi Karen, Well, in some ways it requires a lot of balance, since your on a round ball - so I'm not sure it if would help. They do make oblong oval shaped 'balls' that are much more stable that might work for some postures. For instance to do downward dog, in this dvd, you drape yourself over the ball and since your belly is resting on the ball it takes some of the weight off of your wrists. Other things, she just uses the ball as a weight such as in 'tree' pose she holds the ball above her head and tilts to one side, the ball adds weight. Like I said its not classical yoga but its a nice start for me. BTW, I'm studying feldenkrais method, which helps many people with balance - I don't know if it would help you, as I don't know what caused your balance issues, but if you're interested you can read about it and find local practitioners at www.feldenkrais.com
