Hi - So far no side effects at all (except good ones) from everyone who's tried it. What I like even more is that the manufacturer actually has clinical studies on acacia showing that it's very unlikely to cause bloating and gas. When I add the product to the site I'm going to have those studies excerpted so people can see all the information for themselves. And it should work equally well for constipation and diarrhea - that's pretty much how all soluble fiber works. It's just whether or not the supplement will also cause gas/bloating that can vary.
Personally, I've really loved the stuff. I don't know that I can promise no one will have any bloating or gas from it, as I haven't come across one single supplement where that held true. But I can pretty much guarantee it will be much more tolerable than psyllium (what Metamucil is made from) as that stuff is notorious for causing gas and bloating. I also really wonder about the flavors, colors, preservatives, etc. that are in many of the supplements, and in contrast the acacia is just pure organic soluble fiber. Nothing else is added. I really, really like and trust that.
Best, Heather
