I have finally tried the board fave, anti depressant brownies over the weekend. I was so careful to do everything exact, and make sure I had the right ingredients, but as I was adding in the sugah (one of the last ingredients), I noticed I was a little less than a cup short. Argh. Seeing how it was eleven thirty at night, I impulsively added in maple syrup to sub the rest and threw it in the oven, since I didn't want to waste all of the ingredients I had already thrown together. I realized later that I would have been better off if I had just left out the extra sugar, they just wouldn't have been as sweet, but it was too late. All mushy, and would fall apart when I tried to cut it. I nevertheless attacked the pan with a fork and they were still yummy, but I would get sick to my stomach after eating them. This is detering me from trying again, cause the only thing I subbed from the original recipe was maple syrup and egg replacer for the whites. Should this had made me sick? The only thing I can come up with is that the mushy texture was too hard to digest. If not, than I must not be able to handle choclate. I really hope that is not the case. Should I try again? Or is this just wishful thinking?
