I had a very nice visit with grandma on Saturday and she loved getting to seem my golden retreiver. He was soooo gentle with her. I think pets know or sense things and know when to be gentle....Saturday just happened to be he and his brother's 2nd birthday! So it was a nice birthday gift for him, too. His brother got to spend the day with my husband on the mountain and with my mother-in-law....so they both had a good 2nd birthday....

Back to my trip to see grandma.....I was able to sit down with grandma and go over a few things about the sewing machine. She showed me how to thread it, change the tension on the bobbin, etc. Her shoulders are hurting real bad with arthuritus (sp?) and she doesn't have much strengh in her hands, but she showed me as best she could and I just took in every moment of our time together. I made sure she knew how much it meant to me that she wanted me to have her beloved sewing machine. I had my aunt take some photos of grandma and I at the sewing machine together. I hated seeing my aunt get "snippy" at times with grandma....I just had to let it go so as not to cause an arguement between my aunt and I in front of grandma.

I posted Friday that I had e-mailed my aunt about what they would like for lunch and that I'd be glad to bring something or pick something up. She e-mailed me back and said that she'd go pick up sub sandwiches when I got there and to "...let me handle it!" (let her handle it). So, I let her handle it thinking she'd go get sandwiches and that would be safe for me to eat and nice for grandma to have. Well, I get there and she asked if I wanted to sit down and play with the sewing machine and grandma asked if we could eat first...she was getting hungry. So I thought my aunt was going to go get the sandwiches. Well, she started making a tiny batch of egg salad for sandwiches. She asked if I liked egg salad or if I'd rather have lunch meat and I told her I'd have lunch meat. She said "well it's in the fridge if you'd like". So I open the fridge and there was one slice of deli ham. So I put it back and told her I'd have egg salad. In order to have enough for grandma and my aunt to have a sandwich I only took a small amount for a half of a sandwich and they had the very last few chips at the bottom of a bag. There was hardly anything in the fridge. That is my aunts fault because grandma can't drive. I hear that my aunt is taking over grocery buying and doesn't even take grandma! But uses grandmas money to buy the groceries. It makes me wonder how much grandma is actually getting to eat. Grandma told my dad that her grocery bill is real high now because my aunt buys all this prepackaged frozen stuff for the microwave. I didn't say anything about the sandwiches because I didn't know what had come up about not going to get sandwiches, ya know. And I didn't want to have my aunt cause a scene and ruin the day for grandma. So I kept my mouth shut...but I wanted to go get grandma some groceries, and pick up something for lunch. I should have just gone ahead and done it but I know my aunt would have gotten all pissy about it and then grandma would have felt uncomfortable.

The food wasn't what my trip was about anyway, but it worries me that grandma isn't being taken care of properly. In two weeks she'll be in a much better environment at the assisted living place.

All in all it was a good trip. And my Effexor is helping sooo much that on the way home I was able to eat at Dairy Queen and had their chicken strip basket and a chocolat shake and it didn't bother my tummy one bit!!!!

I had a wonderful time with grandma and my dog and am real glad I went.

Thank you for all your support.
