Anyone Ever Heard of a Stress Rash?

I'm breaking out all over. Little tiny bumps that itch like crazy. At first I thought maybe it was from all those wild romps in the woods with hubby (yeah, right), but it's not like poison ivy or poison oak. Started on my lower legs, then moved up to my arms, now my inner legs.....

ARGGGHHH!

Seems I had this about 5 years ago and my doctor couldn't diagnose it so he sent me to a dermatologist. He couldn't diagnose anything either; he gave me a bunch of free sample creams and anti-itch lotions and suggested I lay off the perfumed soap. I couldn't face Ivory because of reminders of my childhood, so I opted for Dove, but never felt clean. Besides, the rash didn't go away. I returned to my beloved Oscar body shampoo. Finally the rash went away on its own, and I attributed it to something I must have eaten.

That was pre-IBS. Now it's back, and I haven't done anything differently. Same body shampoo -- but different laundry detergent! I switched from Tide to All Free Clear and Downey Free & Sensitive. Can't be that.

Okay, here's the deal. I'm terribly stressed out about the house. The clock is ticking, and nothing is getting done. The floors aren't finished, the tile hasn't gone in, the kitchen sink is the wrong one and has to be returned, the new kitchen sink won't come in for several weeks, the deck installers have walked off the job, the electrician hasn't installed the under-cabinet lights (and hubby just asked me to please lighten up about it with the builder), the electrical outlet hasn't been connected to the island, the appliances haven't arrived, and the builder is in Haiti on vacation! We move in 3 weeks. ARGGGGHHH!

I try to keep this all to myself. I try to remember my lessons about stress: live for the present, don't think about the future, and forget the past. Concentrate on the "here and now." I spend my time scrubbing porch railings and packing up gardening equipment. I bake rhubarb pies and shampoo carpeting. I don't talk about the stress because I want this building process to be a pleasant one -- it's our last! And this is how my body thanks me -- by breaking out in hives.

Anyone ever heard of stress rash?

Bev
