My GI took the same approach. I'm sure he asked me if I wanted a colonoscopy because although he felt sure I had IBS, he wanted to offer me the reassurance.

I didn't want a colonoscopy...but I did want one to reassure myself. Sure enough, it came back normal...but I think everyone should have one to rule out other problems.
