I'm afraid time off from work will only temporarily make you feel better. I, like Snowy, find that work does help me get my mind off of it even at my worst attacks! Yes, I'd probably be more comfortable in my own bathroom or home in bed but truthfully knowing that "this too shall pass" is pretty much what gets me through it. I work in an office too with about about 15 people on my floor. Most know my IBS troubles so it does help to let your closest co-workers know about it. Kinda takes the edge off when you are all of the sudden gone for a bit at the potty that people know where you are and why. You'd be surprised #1 how many other people suffer with IBS or some form of it. #2 how understanding and sympathetic people are to it. I bet you out of the 100 people that you work with there are a least a dozen or so who have some type of issue with their bowels!

I'm sorry that you do get nausous and gag and dry heaves. I fortunately don't have that problem. I do get nausous though quite a few times a month. I pop a pepermint Altoids in my mouth and usually that helps. Whether it's psychological or what, it helps sometimes.

Unfortunately I've learned to deal with it. Yes, many, many times it's taken over me and I get down about it but many, many, times I've take over IT so be thankful for the good days and know that the bad ones are only temporary
