Thanks for that! ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
Career-wise I've always worked in Marketing - from Assistant up to Product and Channel Manager, working for Newell Rubbermaid (make Rubbermaid, Parker pens, pyrex, little tikes, sharpie pens, etc etc). I've looked after, primarily, new product development, consumer and customer research, purchasing, negotiating prices, advertising, packaging design, portfolio management, setting pricing, etc etc. My last job was with an Electronics retailer here in the UK where I was mostly involved with purchasing and sourcing new products from the far east, which I found a bit boring - I like the creative elements of Marketing...
As for Photoshop - I'm a complete novice! My cousin is a fab graphic designer, and he taught me the basics of using Photoshop in 30 mins one afternoon (we worked for the same firm at the time), but that was a few years ago. However, I got a new laptop last month as mine bust, and it came with Photoshop Elements installed - so now I'm taking every opportunity I can to familiarise myself with it! (and it's far more interesting than the study I SHOULD be doing... )
Always wanted to be a graphic designer, did my school work experience in a studio, but fate just seemed to take me into Marketing - which was cool because with packaging, product and advertising design I got to specify what I wanted and make the decisions, even if I wasn't wielding the mouse myself! ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
Do you work at home / have your own business or work in a studio? Intrigued now!
