Michelle, I saw the coolest thing on Goodmorning America this morning. There was a surfer and his wife who have an autistic son...the one place the dad could connect with his son was in the water riding the waves. They now have a non-profit that makes "riding the waves" an opportunity for kids with autism. The kids are initially worried about getting into the ocean but once riding the waves it does something to them that brings about calm and sheer joy. I was in tears watching the smiles on these kids. If I am not mistaken (please correct me if I am), Aspergers is a form of autism? If I lived near the ocean I would love to learn to surf and participate in a program like that.
