I say that yes there's a good chance that this could explain things. I'm sure there are drugs to bring your cortisol level down too. If so, try it and see if that helps. It's very interesting as well that you levels keep going up. I have chronic insomnia (although it's been pretty ok these days)so I have to wonder if I have a cortisol imbalance as well!
