I am hoping to get my husband to talk to his son's Psychologist(his ex wife totally leaves him out of the loop on this) to see what he thinks about Aspergers as a possibility. I have always felt there was something more than the ADHD diagnosis that was so casually given by his pediatrician. This may not be it, but he seems to fit alot of what I have been reading about it. I just want to see him get the proper help and his mom is very comfortable in just giving him medication after medication. She has a very hard time accepting that her son is not "normal" and jsut wants to brush it aside and medicate him. I wanted to try some natural things, like with diet and such a while back and she totally laughed it off. He's 10 now and it's getting harder and harder watching him try to fit in. Next year he starts middle school(6th - 8th grade) at a very tough school, one of the toughest in our area. He knows none of the kids because the school he is currently in does not roll into that one. She has enrolled him in the school closer to her for her own convenience. I worry about him being left alone before and after school( he's in daycare now) because he is so not mature enough to be alone. I guess the biggest surprise in all of this is that she is a 6th grade teacher. She knows what it is like at that age level and how hard it will be for him to try and fit in next year. I'm sorry, there is so much to this and now I'm rambling and guess I just needed to vent. Thanks so much for this site and info, I really hope I can get these two to seek further diagnosis for him, whatever it may be.
