Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Need advice from the ladies...guys should probably avoid this topic

Hey Girls,

I can't believe I'm even posting this but I literally have no one else to ask

It's times like this I find myself really missing my mom. Anyways, I'm in a bit of a predicament with a female problem and hoping maybe someone on here will be able to offer some advice...but I personally find it really embaressing so forgive me if it bothers anyone else.

Anyways, a lot of you know I have endometriosis which causes a lot of pain for me, but I also had the unfortunate condition of having to have a hymenectomy (just what it sounds like, having the hymen surgically removed) and ever since then I've had terrible pain down there. Anyways, I *finally* got in to see an ob-gyn who specializes in this kind of pain (as opposed to one who just deals with delivering babies or routine exams) and he was really helpful but it was upsetting at the same time. This guy has an excellent reputation (it took me more than a year to get in to see him) and he's been doing this for like 40 years so I think I can trust him but I'm still a little iffy.

Basically, he said the surgeon who performed the procedure did a "hack job" and as a result has left me with scarring and some tissue problems "down there". He said I may even need another surgery to correct it (I wanted to bawl my eyes out when he said that). He said before we look at another surgery though I could try an estrogen cream which apparently gets applied down there for a month and should help heal and thicken the skin and stuff.

Ok, I know nothing about this but aren't estrogen creams normally given to post-menopausal women for dryness and stuff? It just seems weird...and I can't find ANY info on it on the net.

Ok, so that's my embaressing story for the day...hopefully I'll get some quick replies and then I can delete this post
