degree vs. non degree

i believe having a degree is good to have in any kind of helping field. but you also have to keep in mind, people aren't text book, some of the best people to talk to sometimes are counsolers.....it's important to find someone you are comfortable with, and stick with them. my best counsoler, was a psychotherapist, it sounds so funny to say, but she was really really good. she helped me alot. but i've had counsolers too...that are part of a school and are practicing talking with clients, and they have been really good too. so you have to find someone that care about what they do, and seem to have good insights, it may take a few different people to do that
