after reading what you have wrote, it appears as though talk therapy would be the most beneficial for you right now (considering you would like to work through past issues, and receive stress management. psychologists are generally very good at aiding people in both of those areas. as for the anxiety, psychologists are also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which is the best therapy available for people with anxiety aside from drugs). as a result, I would probably reccomend going to a psychologist or a counselor first, and then if they feel that the therapy isn't working in and of itself, they can refer you to a psychiatrist.

my subspecialization is in anxiety disorders, and through my psychology training i've learned ALOT about them if you have any more questions.
