I think you have made a big step just by recognizing and admitting what you just did! Seek some good counseling, by a WOMAN first and foremost.  It is most likely connected to things you've experienced growing up, etc. I am of course going to be biased toward any counseling that uses the Bible as its main focus because I am a Christian and I can say from personal experience that ONLY the grace of Jesus has freed me from the "junk" in my life! But then that is me and this board is not about pushing religious beliefs on others. That is simply MY personal advice because you asked and becuase you say you are "desperate", I could not resist pointing that out - a caring, genuine, loving church would point you in the direction of some solid local, CONFIDENTIAL counseling in your area, often FREE as well.
As for another doctor, I've found that when we choose to do the right thing, the Lord provides in ways we never imagined! I'm going to pray that you see this to be true in your situation!
