This is my first post, but I feel like this is something I can talk about!
I've been struggling with both IBS and endometriosis for about six years...and I'm only 21. I have been on Heather's diet (well, the best I can restrain myself...) for over a year now. I have also been on seven different birth controls, and put into medical menopause to control my endo. I was laparscopically diagnosed with endo two years ago, and the most relief I've ever had came with being put into menopause. However, even during that blissful time without the pain of periods, I still had to carefully control my IBS (I'm an A) with diet. Has your daughter tried the birth control route to see if it helps? Because of my IBS, I learned that oral BC irritates my tummy, causes endless nausea and even vomitting sometimes, as well as increased(!) D. However, non-oral BC (I've used both the Nuva Ring and am currently on Ortho-Evra)works wonders for me.
If your daughter EVER wants to talk, or just have someone sympathetic around her age, I'd love to chat with her...it's a tough road, especially when you know you are fighting TWO chronic illnesses! Sometimes all a girl needs is a hot cup of peppermint tea and some sympathy.
