Advice needed from dog owners...       07/18/05 01:12 PM Edit Reply Quote karyash Reged: 04/11/05 Posts: 94 Loc: Fargo, ND Hi everyone. I rarely post here, but I do read everyday. I am wondering how to know if getting a dog is the right decision for my family. Is it something you have to try to know for sure? I am a single mom, I work full time and have 3 kids (ages 9,7 & 4). The kids have wanted a dog for a long time and the older girls would be able to help with it. Anyways, an acquaintance of mine has an 18 month old puppy that she has to get rid of (moving into an apartment that doesn't allow dogs). I would like to do keep it, but I am nervous that I wouldn't have enough time for it or that I would get stressed out over all the extra work and cause my IBS-D to flare up. The good things are that the dog is house trained, neutered, and has all its shots. Is it a lot of extra work? Does the love they add to the family make up for that? Please help!
