Congrats to the newly engaged!
I was very surprised. We had talked about marriage, but I figured he wouldn't propose until we had been dating for at least a year.
My story: It was two years ago on July 6 on our 8th month dating anniversary. It was very warm out and because of a severe storm the morning before, about half the city was without electricity. I was one of the lucky ones who never lost power. Mich was not one of the lucky ones. Mich is perpetually 15 minutes late, and he was early that evening. (I suppose that should have tipped me off, but I figured he was early because my air conditioning still worked. ) He comes in and gives me a rose (he does that just because about once a month), and he tells me it has "I love you" stamped on it somewhere. So, standing in my kitchen, I'm looking all over the flower to see the writing and not finding it. He is getting a little perturbed at this point, and I laughed at him because I didn't know why he was bothered. As I laughed, I took the wrapping off the rose and tied to the stem was his great grandmother's engagement ring. Then he got down on one knee and proposed. I thought about it for a nanosecond before I said yes. Then I called my parents and asked if they would like a son-in-law.
