I have one job, but many titles since it's just my boss and me. It gets sort of confusing, but my boss has several companies:
So I'm a Legal Assistant for the real-estate mediation company that he has. He basically helps lawyers in a case negotiate a solution before it goes to trial. It's nice because I get to learn all this neat legal stuff since my boss has practiced law for over 20 years.
Then I'm an Office Manager for a development company that he co-owns with the owner of a construction company. However, my boss' partner is really only a financial contributor so we do all the work. We've currently got two 8-9 single-family housing projects going on.
Then I'm another office manager in my boss' own development company (that he does solo). We've got one property that we rent and then my boss is also building his own house, which is thankfully almost done. Also looped in this company is the renovation of our office building that we're in the process of purchasing. It's really neat because it's a Julia Morgan house (famous female architect that built Hearst Castle in California) that's almost 100 years old. And it's almost in the same condition as it was when it was built, because hardly anything has been changed. We've even got the dumbwaiter and coal shoot still. Luckily his wife just retired because she and I are in charge of the renovations. When we're all done, we'll rent out the extra office space we have.
And as if we didn't have enough projects going on - my boss is trying to get his wife and me to start a marketing company since she's very driven with lots of ideas and I'm good at webpages. I keep telling him that I'm going to need a full-time assistant if we do that. Luckily his 12yr old daughter is my part-time assistant this summer, because I'd still be backed-up if not for her.
And finally, I go to school full-time during the school year and am taking a really hard summer school class this summer.
