Y'all have been so supportive and right-on with my IBS questions, and those of us with IBS tend to be sensitive to meds, so I'm turning to you for feedback on a couple of pharmaceuticals.
Two questions: has anyone withdrawn from Klonopin, and has anyone taken beta-blockers (Atenolol specifically) for irregular heartbeats?
Here's my story: I've been on Klonopin for about three years for anxiety. I take .5 mg at night, and half of that in the morning. I'm concerned about the long-term use, and afraid that some of my current symptoms are a results of the drug (irregular heartbeats, fatigue, vision problems, memory problems.) I want to taper slowly off the drug with the help of my doctor, but I'm worried about the withdrawal process. Anyone have any advice?
I've also been noticing an increase in my premature heartbeats and discomfort in my chest. All tests on my heart have been normal. It was suggested that I take Atenolol for this problem. I'm very sensitive to medications and reluctant to take something else that may affect my body in other ways. (I also don't want it to aggravate my IBS-D!) It's a drug that needs to be tapered off slowly when withdrawing, which is a concern. Anybody take this stuff and what's your experience? I would be taking a very low dose; 1/2 tablet of 25 mg.
Thanks for any feedback. I really appreciate it!
