The worst part about this whole thing is how the media has completely turned this into a circus, and how a personal dispute between the family has been politicized up to the national level -- I read a short article here from the Seattle Times a little while back about how federal politicians think this is a great issue to use for political gain.

If anything is to be gained from all of this, it's that people will be more responsive to putting together living wills so that we won't have to worry about making these decisions based on the word of any individual person.
