I finally just saw a pic of what Terry looked like before her accident/illness? She was only 26 and boy was she beautiful. It's such a shame.

My husband and I just talked about this case just the other night. I asked him if he wanted this to happen to him and he said no. I on the other hand I said, yes, I'd like to be kept on life support for some time. Certainly not 15 years but some time, just in case.

I work for a skilled nursing facility and yes, we too have young patient's that were either in a car accident, a surgery gone bad or whatever. We have one case in particular that the husband has not divorced her and he has a "friend" that he lives with. How can anyone judge what you would do in this situation. If my husband was on life support for 15 years, I'm not sure that I could be alone through it all. I married him for better or for worse so in my mind I don't think I could divorce him. Hey it wouldn't be his fault he ended up like that. But on the other hand my life should not stop waiting and waiting for him to come out like my old husband again. I would have a companion too I think. This husband in the nursing home brought her flowers every day for like 1 year. He was there visiting her day in and day out but after 1 year I think he finally realized she was not getting any better. It's really sad. But things like this do happen.

I feel for the family also. I agree with Casey, no one really wins in this situation and if she requested it, then he has to abide by her wishes.

Just my two cents too. In fact I was gonna start a thread about this but I kinds refrained since it's SO controversal!
