We all deal with our pain in different ways. This lady friend of Ruchie's obviously believes in "being a mensch and sucking it up!" I admire that. I think that's great -- IF you can do it. And sometimes, when I get my mind off my pain and onto something else, pretty soon I realize, "Hey! My pain's gone!"

But if this doesn't work for you, if you deal with your pain in a different manner, THAT'S YOUR BUSINESS, not someone else's.

I don't give a damn what people think of how I deal with it. If I wanna wallow in self-pity, curled up in the fetal position in my bed, with a heating pad on my tummy, then that's just exactly what I'm gonna do, and the hell with anyone who doesn't like it!

I think sometimes we leave ourselves open to criticism from people who think we wanna hear it, and we have to learn how to convey to those kinds of people that they need to keep their mouths shut.

Okay, lets see if I can climb back down off this soap box without being in too much pain and sending me back to bed...
