I just eat when I'm hungry. I think after time your body gets used to eating less. I have been overweight pretty much constantly since adolescence... always made poor choices and overate a lot. With this diet I have learned to eat until I'm no longer hungry instead of eating until I'm stuffed. When I sit down for a meal, I always eat plenty... my soup tonight was full of lots of filling veggies and garbanzo beans. I had a pretty large bowl of it and was quite full afterwards. Same with the ravioli at lunch... I ate a large helping of ravioli, a few bites of zucchini, and about 4 slices of French bread. I am now getting hungry, but that's probably because I stayed up too late (it's now 2am here). I'm going to have another small snack of some sort and go to bed.
I think the trick is just to make healthy choices and eat when you are hungry... not when you're bored or sad or for other reasons but because you are actually hungry. And when you do eat, choose foods that are nutritious for your body and don't stuff yourself. I almost never cheat, and if I do it's literally just a bite or two... just enough to cure the craving without hurting my tummy. I am now at a healthy weight for the first time in years.
Also, just FYI... I tried to eat especially safe foods the past couple of days because we had so much going on and had houseguests for several days. That is always a major stressor for me. Also, it's that time of the month and my tummy is a little more sensitive right now than it normally is, so I have been very careful to eat right and keep my tummy in line. That's probably why the past few days seemed especially light.
