Hey,
I was randomly passing through here - I used to be on the boards a whole lot more but have been off them for some time... I guess I'm an IBS-C with primary symptom being nausea. Not so much pain tho.
I saw your question and that no one had responded. Here's the scoop. You can get your IBS symptoms under control by doing the basic wellness steps that Heather lines out in her book and here on this site - adopt a diet and way of eating that's gut-friendly, get exercise, cut stress, use alternative therapies (hypnosis...yoga if you want to call it alternative), etc. Concentrate on these things and you should be able to kick the majority - if not all - of IBS symptoms into a "remission" of sorts.
Be patient though. You may have to keep at it for a bit before you find just the right combo of diet/eating habits, exercise and other methods to get you back to a better place physically. Not everyone is the same, and not everyone reacts the same to the ideas of "treatment" that are lined out here. What someone swears by may not be the "magic pill" for you.
Hang in there! You largely control the outcome. Good luck!
