I'm following a low g.i. diet at the moment. My carbs come from vegetables, predominantly. I generally consume enough fiber from vegetables to keep things flowing. I generally eat some vegetables at every meal--even breakfast, with lean protein. Yes, by eliminating specific carbs, a specific kind of gas/pain is eliminated too.
I have IBS-D. I note a decrease in my D symptoms (as long as I avoid IBS triggers, i.e. dairy, unsafely prepared veggies & raw foods, high fat foods/meals, red meat, etc.) I haven't been C, yet, but...there are other issues associated with C besides fiber.
This is a controversial issue among IBS'ers. I eat this way for reasons not having to do with IBS. I have a mood disorder & epilepsy and this sort of diet helps control symptoms. I also feel more energized when I eat this way.
Kate, IBS-D.
