hi i am new to this board, and just started the IBS diet. i did not believe that i had IBS because pain is the least troubling symptom i have, and because i was told to "eat more fiber" and i did that, and it did not help (it made things much worse, but then no one said anything about the different kinds of fiber!! grr!)
anyway, due to being ill, being on medication that has permanently altered my metabolism, and inactivity, i have gained a lot of weight.
i have IBS-A. My main problem for the past year or so has been C. however i noticed that now that i am on this new diet, it does not take much for me to go from C to D- or even not D but an urgency that means i *must* be in the immediate vicinity of a bathroom or a very emabarrassing accident will occur.
UM!! so, i can not exercise indoors, i am on the 3rd floor with the landlord below me on the 2nd floor, and i can't afford any exercise equipment anyway (i am disabled, on a very low fixed income)
i plan to go walking, but i do not know what to do about this um, "urgent" or rather "urgency" problem.
any one have any suggestions? about the only exercise i have been getting is walking to the store and back, that takes about 40 mins, i do not drive, so i am carrying a lot of heavy things too. usually about an hour or so after that walk (nearly daily) i need the bathroom available *right away*.
i want to start walking 30 mins a day and work my way up- but i need to do this, um, safely.
sorry for the graphic details, don't know how else to describe the situation
