Thanks -- very helpful. I would like to try hypnosis but don't think we have any practitioners here. I live in an isolated city far from anywhere else. I tried self hypnosis and didn't do very well at it. I have trouble doing stuff like that at home. too many distractions.

Five or six years ago I had ALL the tests including colonoscopy and they were all negative. Last Christmas my symptoms got much worse and I had and stool tests and they were all negative and my dr. and I decided not to do the barium xray and colonscopy again. Just from the fact that my only symptoms are fatigue and diarrhea, and from the clear link to stressful situations, I really think it is IBS. On the other hand, I have a brother and aunt with Crohns so who knows. Guess I will play it by ear for now as I really don't want the colonoscopy. Our one local GI dr. does not knock you out and gives you minimal anesthesia and I felt the entire procedure! It was awful.
