Have them knock you out, it my advice. I had one with no pain meds and wide awake, and boy was it the worst... You know? This isn't helping. My advice is that if you're IBS-D you will feel the after effects of the prep for a good 3 days afterward, so take some time off. Ask to get knocked out for the exam. Also, ask your doc for an after-care Rx, any good narcotic analgesic (percoset, codeine, vicodin)which you can use to stop the pain and spasms of the after-effects of the exam.
Scan the message boards for prep ideas. I have used hardcore laxatives + Fleet enema in the past. It was really overkill, and there are some other better other ideas out there for prep.
