Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

ARGGGGGGH! Right now I am completely freaking out and I don't quite know what to do. I have been having problems with frequent UTI's for the past few months. I had to have an ultrasound of my kidney and bladder a month ago.. it was PURE HELL. I got so completely sick from having to drink massive amounts of fluids on an empty stomach. I was sick for days after. Well... the Dr wants me to have a CT scan. I have to do the same thing...drink a lot of contrast medium on an empty stomach and then lay down for an extended period of time (2 BIG no no's for me). On top of that, I have asthma so they want to premedicate me. This would make me unable to take my meds because they do not go with my IBS meds. So... I would have to take this test with no IBS meds. I have 3 weeks before I leave for school and I don't have time to be sick for days. I am working 10 hours days and when I am not working I am at home getting ready. I do NOT want this test. Am I being irrational for refusing to have it?
