Sarah, I'm in about the same boat as you! I am IBS C though, I take Miralax and it at least keeps things going. sometimes the diet does help but my symptoms are much more stress related also. I have been battling IBS for about 18 years now and unfortunately, still stuggle a lot. Mostly, I've learned to live with the bloating and pain. I sleep with the heating pad most nights and plan my wardrobe around how my tummy is feeling that day.

I too, can go a few weeks without too much trouble, although my tummy is never good. Sometimes, it doesn't even have to be anything THAT stressfull to set it off.

Have you tried the antispasm drugs? Like Bentyl and Levsin? They don't help me too much but soem people do get some relief with them. Have you thought about trying a SSRI? Like Wellbutrin or Zoloft? I know you are not necessarily depressed (but who wouldn't be dealing with IBS all the time) but there are a lot of studies that show certain SSRI drugs help with stress related IBS. Check out the library, I know Heather has posted a bunch of them!
