Definately go on the "what to eat when you can't eat anything diet". This is what I do each month when I know it's coming. Start taking whatever pain killers that you take for cramps (I take Midol Menstrual pills) BEFORE or right when you feel the slightest twinge. Take them at regular intervals and try to stay ahead of the pain. This seems to help my D. Luckily I am on the Birth Control patch, so I know pretty much to the exact day I will get it. Drink lots of chamomile tea. Also, if you are on an antispasmodic (I take a generic brand for librax). Take it regularly at that time, that is very important, well to me anyways. The menstrual cramps are making your colon cramp more, and you need to try to reverse it. Don't starve yourself, it will make you worse most likely. Eat alot of bread based foods and pretzel snacks. With this regime I am close to being able to handle my IBS during periods, but it is till the hardest for me to get under control. Sometimes all of these things don't help entirely, but they do make a BIG difference. Remeber, everyone is different, so these methods may not work for you. Good luck!
