Your future daughter-in-law is lucky to have such a concerned future MIL.

She needs to be tested for celiac, etc., THEN she needs to have a colonoscopy to confirm the IBS diagnosis.

If it turns out she has IBS, it doesn't necessarily mean that's the cause of her weight loss. I have the opposite problem; I can't lose weight no matter what I do! I've been on the program about 6 months now (actually longer, but 6 months without cheating).

Health insurance or not, she needs testing. Good luck.
