Hi Kelly, The reason there is that warning on Fiber supplements is because they are marketed as laxatives. While these supplements can have the same effect as a laxative they can also have an opposite effect (which I am very thankful for). Because they are not really laxatives the warning is of little concern for most people. I too, have to take pain medication at various times through out the day and have had no problem with decreased effectiveness. For me, it doesn't really matter when I take the fibre in relation to the pain medication. Hope that helps a little T
