Zelnorm affects seratonin in the gut and is used for IBS. Also, doctors prescribe low doses or paxil and other SRRI's for IBS sufferes. Confusingly enough (LOL) low seratonin levels in the your gut vs. low seratonin levels in the brain have not been proven to be related, as they are produced in different parts of the body. In other words, they are related, but the seratonin in the gut is regulated and produced differently than the seratonin in the brain. Also, I think that in many cases, the IBS causes the depression, and not visa vera. I hope that you found this info. interesting... and that it is somewhat correct. This medical stuff is tricky...
