you got yourself on some meds for IBS. This doesn't mean you will stay on them forever, just until you get stable. There are many, and most of them are not expensive if you don't have insurance to pay for them. Different ones work differently on different people, (so you have to usually try a couple different ones) but they WILL take away the pain and let you eat without that fear. Besides, most of them have a constipating affect..good for "D's". Before meds, and before this diet I was loosing weight at an alarming rate. Of course I needed to do that but safely. Now I'm the reverse and trying to take it off. Through this site I found so many things that were safe and wouldn't trigger an attack that I started to over eat...
