When we get up into our 50's, it is time for us to start ha ving colonoscopys. Don't be embarrassed by asking your friends in that age group if they know a good GI. This is where you will hear about a lot of docs. Another thing I would suggest would be to go online to a State of the art, GREAT HOSPITAL in your area, and look into the GI's there.
This is where the great docs like to practice, and I mean really good ones, at some of these hospitals there is a standard they go by, they look at competency through grades. I know it is that way in Houston at the University of Texas Medical Branch...great hospitals, great docs. Give it a try, and good luck, I want to hear about it after you find him or her. Of course there is always a chance of finding that bad apple.
