I am a 27 year old female living in BC, Canada. I have suffered from IBS since childhood. I cant believe how many people I meet each year, that have the same thing as myself. I have always felt alone and the odd ball....Its been hard not being able go out some times or eat certain foods or basically live my life because of this hereditary illness. My Great Grandmother, Grandma, Mother, and Aunt all experience the same thing.
Some people just dont understand and look at me funny, as if what I have is made up or not such big deal. But, its nice to know I have friends, family and others around the world who have IBS too!!
This website has helped me so much and the lists you have of items to eat and not to eat I have stuck up in my kitchen to remind me.
I have lost lots of weight due to IBS. Dont get me wrong, I am not anorexic. But, still get the looks and comments to "put some meat on those bones". Yet, my Aunt is extremely overwieight and gets the opposite comment. Go figure. And to think there are women out there who get paid lots of money to model in toothpick attire. Hee Hee
Anyway, I thank-you for having a website that is so informative and helps us IBS sufferers out.
I am to be married on May 22nd and my spouse is so supportive of my illness and helps me at times in dealing with it. His father, (my soon to be father in law!) has Colitis. So, the family is very intuned to what to expect with having IBS and are always suggesting ways to help ease the pain. They understand what a person with IBS has to go through. Its quite the lifestyle to adapt to.
My only concern is how I am going to be on my wedding day. I try not to let it take the best of me, but its hard not to be worried and concerned. I am doing my best to keep the stress down, relax and not worry. Eat the right things, and be positive.
