Hi,
I can totally relate to your post. I think when I know I won't be near a bathroom, I feel like I have to go. Like you, I will go a few times in the morning and I know it's more than what most non IBS people go. It should be enough. But I get it in my head that I'll have to go when I'm out. I'm so afraid I'll have an accident or something. You know that urgency that you HAVE to go and when you find a bathroom, it's explosive? What if you weren't near a bathroom. God forbid!!!
So...what I'm trying to say is the mind is such a powerful thing. I've read studies where they actually believe there is a little brain inside your gastrointestinal tract that sends signals to the rest of your body. (well not actually a little brain, you know what I mean!) IF we can control that message center, we'd win the battle. While I know food does play some part in my IBS, it's a very small part. I can eat almost anything and not be affected. It's the stress, the anxiety, even looking forward to something with excitement can cause it.
Sorry for the rambling!!
And I'm glad you had victory the other daY! Sandy
