tlc - I love to eat. I like to cook, but I don't do it as much any more as I used to because my hands are wearing out. Probably because all I've ever done has been with my hands--secretary/admin assist for 30 yrs, computer graphic artist 5 yr, crochet, knit, macrame, garden--you name it and I've done it with my hands (well, almost anything!LOL). The only job I ever had that had to do w/food was when I worked for Campbell Soup Company in Camden, NJ in their Sales Dept. I used to order competitor's foods for their test kitchen. I used to get broken bottles of ketchup, etc.
I remember when I was a little girl many, many, many moons ago and my Mom would be in the kitchen cooking (which she always was, BTW), I would rest my chin in my hands with my elbows on the countertop and just watch her and ask questions. She was a great cook--but she's gone now, so luckily I've gotten her best recipes in my head.
So I guess you might say because I love great tasting food, I got into cooking--and being married helped a lot too because neither of my husbands are cooks. My present husband makes a mean fried calamari, but he only does it a few times a year. I clean the squid and he does the rest.
Now you have me thinking...mmmm...I wonder if we could make the calamari up to the breading stage and bake it in the oven instead of deep frying it??? Has anyone ever tried that?
BTW, thanks for the compliment and for asking. I appreciate it.
