Here's a quote from some medical magazine about soluble fiber I found: "Soluble fiber is readily fermented; beneficial bacteria in the colon break down carbohydrates. A byproduct is gas that can stimulate colonic muscles and help soften stool. However, in some people this can cause discomfort. Adding fiber gradually and slowly over time may eliminate the discomfort." So I think that my increase in gas is due to taking soluber fiber supplements AND eating nothing but soluble fiber foods. It's been a bit better yesterday and today...still bloated and gassy but not so painful.
