Welcome! I don't know about the connection of IBS and hormones. I had my daughter last July and I actually found my IBS to get worse while I was pregnant - I attributed that to the Materna and the iron in it that's supposed to be constipating. I did find though that my peanut butter craze while I was pregnant seemed to help with my IBS - if I ate peanut butter every day and took my Metamucil I seemed to be more regular.
After my daughter was born I found my symptoms getting worse and stopped taking the Materna. I did find that while I was doing the mommy and baby aerobics my IBS was better then it got a lot worse when I stopped exercising regularly, started being more sloppy with my food choices and stopping taking the Metamucil all together.
I found Heather's site about a month ago and this week has been the best tummy week I've had ever. I am so grateful!
Sorry to hear about your doctor experience - they really don't get it!
