Hi there, I am a new member and have just posted a message in the Living Room. I am now posting it in this area so that more people will see it. I have had I.B. most of my life and have had no help from doctors, their advice is eat fibre! Yea right! We've all been there haven't we. Anyway, I found Heather's book this week and have been following her advice. My tummy has definately settled down. I do not eat anything that is not natural (haven't for donkeys years) also have not eaten 'starches' for many years. So right now I am happy to eat bread, rice, etc. My problem is I need to lose weight. I have tried everything in the past (who hasn't) but of course salads and fruits just do me in. I have to say I love salads and fruits, just can't eat them! So I did Atkins for years, believe it or not it suited me, but not any more. Also with that as soon as I added any extra carbs, up the weight came again. So now as I said, I am really happy eating my beloved bread and potatoes again! I just fear for my weight. I have been brainwashed into thinking carbs make you fat. Ihave at least 20 lbs. to lose. I was told by Bevrs today (thanks Bev) that portion control is the thing. I will do that, but right now I am so crazed at being able to eat lovely things again I am getting stuck in so to speak! Heather's chocolate applesauce cake is irresistable. Now apparently sugar has to be limited, does that mean those lovely breads and cakes are out? Please say no! Any advice is welcome, thankyou all in advance Neeta
