Laurie, are you a newbie who just snuck in here so quietly we missed you? I just read Pretty Lady's post (that's our Jen).
Welcome to the boards! Jen is right; you need to start a new thread so everyone can meet you. She explained how, so I won't go into it again.
About those pancakes -- girlfriend, all the pancake batter at ihop -- ALL the batter, not just the buttermilk variety, even the "fruit-n-nutty" and the pumpkin pancake batter -- have MILK in them. They're a no-no. I didn't have pancakes yesterday, and I won't have them there ever again.
The best bet is to make your own. Reduced-fat Bisquick is quite good, easy, and -- most importantly -- you can control what goes into the batter. Use soy milk instead of that regular stuff, and especially the vanilla kind, because it blends so well with the maple syrup. Also, I like to add frozen wild blueberries to my batter -- a great way to sneak fruit into my diet. And when I do add the blueberries, I use wild blueberry preserves on the pancakes instead of syrup. YUMMY!
Okay, I got off on that darn tangent of mine. I do it all the time.
Anyway, welcome to the boards, and I'm sorry I missed you (you just kinda snuck in there, girlfriend!).
Bev
