I think triggers are different for everyone. Sometimes I eat something really fatty and bad for me and I will have a tummy ache within about 15 minutes and I'll be in the bathroom right away. It's the fat that sends your intestines into an uproar and they start spasming. Then there's the times when I eat something and it doesn't affect me until the next day. That's when I will get my stomach ache or I'll go running to the bathroom.

Usually I get attacks after I eat a meal but if I'm eating well and taking my Acacia that's such a huge help in keeping my stomach full of food at all times so your intestines can't go spasming out of control because the fiber keeps them in check. Well that's not really a medical description but that's how I think of it! Hope this helps. If you do a search on "triggers" you'll find lots of discussions on that here.
