Hiya!
I haven't stayed in the same place for more than 3 months for the last two years and although I haven't really gotten anything figured out, I thought I could let you know the things that have helped me through the long plane journeys, unfamiliar places and stressful situations..
Like you have probably read already, bring lots of safe snacks with you. When I flew from Canada to England, I didn't eat any of the plane food (and it's a 10 hour flight!) but luckily I had a backpack full of safe cereal, breads, pretzels, etc. I also brought along my own tea bags and asked for hot water so I could make my own tummy tea.
I went to Spain last year and eating wasn't quite as difficult as I thought, the language barrier was the only thing that really made things harder (I suggest a phrase book!). I stuck to pastas, breads, rice dishes, etc. There were plenty of little supermarkets near us and I managed to find some safe breads/snacks there. Also, I found I was never too far from a public toilet whilst on the beach or near my accomodations. The toilets were also all very clean (which always makes me feel better for some reason..).
I always get really on edge before travelling (which makes me wonder why I put myself through it so often but nevermind!) because I think something terrible will happen but let me tell you that nothing tragic has ever occurred so if you are worried, I hope that puts you at ease a little. If you are prepared with all your safe foods and meds if you need them, you can relax a lot more I've found.
Anyway, Spain is a beautiful place and I had a wonderful time so I hope you do the same. Good luck!
