I'm new here, though I've been reading posts for awhile. I have both of Heather's books, which have been extremely helpful with at least making me functional again.
I'm an undergrad engineering student, and I have IBS-D. The worst though is the almost chronic pains I get with my IBS. My doc has tried me on several medicines, but now I'm trying Levbid (for the second time, it stopped working after about a year the last time) only when I start to get pains. She also wants me to be on a high fiber diet. She didn't tell me what to eat on said high fiber diet, so I was looking up some high fiber diets online, and they all call for IBS triggers! I pretty much follow Heather's diet, breakfast is toast with some strawberry applesauce, lunch is a peanut butter and strawberry jelly bagel sandwich and some low fat honey graham crackers, and dinner is pasta or rice with some cooked veggies. And all I drink is water, and I drink a ton. Anyone have any suggestions? I know I can't eat dairy, whole wheat, chickpeas, bananas (they're a migraine trigger for me), raw fruits and veggies, and meat (I know that's a strange one, but once I stopped eating all meat (which was chicken and turkey for me, I never was a big red meat eater), my pains got a lot better for awhile). Sorry for the long post, but I really would appreciate any suggestions.
